Founder and Managing Director

James is founder of Commercial Risks (UK) Ltd and its trading divisions, a group of wholesale and direct insurance brokers and underwriting agencies.

James successfully made Commercial Risks into a Lloyd’s Brokerage in 2011 and this was shortly followed by Troon Underwriting in 2012, both now key parts of the evolvement of the group.

Commercial Risks in Film is the latest edition to the portfolio of companies and considered a very interesting development for the future, in association with Carnaby International.
By devoting his work full time to Commercial Risks, James acting as CEO has developed a full suite of products and facilities to best supply a strong (300+) broker network.

James was recently an extra in “Rise of the Foot Soldier 4”, playing the part of the legendary Don King.

Lee Allen

Director

Lee has been involved in the insurance industry for over 20 years starting in personal lines and then moving into commercial lines when he joined Commercial Risk in 2008.

Lee started as New Business Executive, dealing with both Broker and direct clients. In 2016 he was promoted to Renewal manager, and then July 2017 was appointed as Director.

Lee is also involved in the Underwriting of Troon Underwriting and a broker at Lloyd’s.

James has been at Commercial Risks for just over year now, after coming from a successful Insurance career in Legal Indemnities. 

James has always maintained and built on existing relationships whether with clients directly or Solicitors/Insurers respectively.  James has already helped grow the business by managing individual accounts and building client relationships. 

James is proficient in dealing with Construction, Property, Sports Leisure and Entertainment, Motor Fleet, D + O, PI Insurance Cryptocurrency, Bitcoin and Affinity / Programmes as well as Financial Lines.

Adam Elliott

Adam started his insurance career in 2013 in Motor Insurance as a Customer Service advisor for a local Motor Insurance Broker, followed by moving into the Life Insurance Industry in 2015 for a local Life Insurer in the Operations Department

Adam joined Commercial Risks in 2018, as an Administration Assistant, dealing with both existing business and new business customers, assisting brokers and direct clients with any enquiries they may have.

As of September 2019 he was promoted to Account Handler. Adam hopes to build a good relationship with both existing and new clients whilst growing his knowledge of the insurance industry.

Lauren Philpin

Operations and Compliance

Lauren joined Commercial Risks (UK) Ltd in 2012 and now assists Directors with Operations, Compliance, Finance and HR.

Lauren’s broad experience over the years has enabled her to gain a vast knowledge of Insurance management and oversight and she is considered a key member of our team.

Lauren also conducts high level internal audits and assists in daily accounting functions, as well as providing a general oversight of the office operations. Lauren ensures that an effective and highly organised back office structure is maintained and reports to the Directors.

Account Executive

Sean Joined Commercial Risks in August 2018 from Arthur J Gallagher. He has been in the insurance market for over 18 years starting in Lloyds and becoming an underwriter for Sportscover at an early age.  After a change in direction he went in to regional broking then back into the London market with several brokers and became an Account Executive dealing with charities, commercial and corporate clients. After a brief break from the market he joined Gallagher’s as a New Business Development broker where he was part of a new team that dealt with bank and direct clients.

He currently handles a wide variety of New and Existing business, at Commercial Risks, and is committed to growing his book of business and exploring new opportunities as they arise.

Sean has worked with many classes of business including liability, property, professional indemnity, marine, terrorism, directors & officers, fleet, engineering, contractors all risks and more.  He has dealt with large clients including National Food chains / Restaurants, Large overseas Car Manufacturers, National Charities and National Sports Associations.

In his spare time Sean enjoys sports including football, cricket and basketball as well as outdoor pursuits as kayaking, rafting, hiking.  He is also a keen traveller and enjoys exploring new countries and cities.
